Incentia Announces New ECOCraft Release for Leakage Power and Timing ECO

Additional 20% Leakage Power Reduction from Already Optimized Designs, Minimal Impact to Layout, 10X Faster on Design Closure

SANTA CLARA, CA - July 17, 2009 - Incentia Design Systems, Inc., a technology leader in timing analysis and design closure solutions, today announced a major release to its ECOCraft post-layout design closure software. Incentia's ECOCraft product suite contains two major components. ECOCraft-Power is used to reduce leakage power, and ECOCraft-Timing is used to fix setup and hold time violations. Both are built on top of Incentia's TimeCraft™, the world's fastest sign-off proven static timing analyzer (STA), ECOCraft performs ECO's and timing updates seamlessly within a single tool environment. The end results include much improved quality, faster design closure, and increased productivity.

ECOCraft-Power focuses on leakage power to achieve the best quality of results. An average of 20% leakage power can be further reduced from already optimized designs after P&R, or up to 90% leakage power can be reduced from designs without leakage power optimization, while keeping setup times intact. ECOCraft-Timing adopts an innovative algorithm that fixes the largest amount of hold time violations with a minimal number of delay insertions. It also fixes setup time violations by using buffer removal and cell sizing. The impact to the physical layout is minimal.

Most stand alone ECO tools provide the ECO function without a built-in timing engine. They rely heavily on custom interfaces to and from a third party static timing analysis tool. Inefficiency is unavoidable, due to the lengthy communications between files with large amounts of data. ECOCraft performs the ECO's and timing analysis in one tool to eliminate any inefficiency. To further reduce total turnaround time, multi-mode multi-corner (MMMC) analysis and multi-thread capability are supported. Multiple MMMC jobs can be distributed to network machines and run in parallel under multi-thread to maximize machine performance. Therefore, a 10X design closure speedup can be easily achieved.

Compared to Incentia's previous version (2008.10), this new release adds many new features for different applications and usages. They include CPF/UPF power format support, SPEF flow support, signal integrity consideration, and setup time fixing.
